I’ve been gone quite a while! I really want to and will try my best to update my projects here more often. It’s just getting harder and harder with a baby, especially now that he wants to be interactive all the time. I moved back to North Carolina after having my baby. We drove across country when he was only 2 weeks old! …and… we are planning to “permanently” move back to California by the end of the year so I am looking forward to buy fabrics in bulk again next year. :D

Below are some of the projects I made. The cross stitch was a bit painful, pushing the dull needle through the interface backing for the onesies. Love every piece.

Collection Update

October 31, 2013

I hate to say, but I haven’t been productive with my collection. My sister and I signed a lease recently and we’ve been trying to settle in. We’ve been doing lots of shopping almost ery Day! and I’m sick siCK SICK of shopping. Every year, I don’t do much Christmas shopping; I just buy everyone gift cards so this year I wanted to start of my Christmas shopping early so that people actually get gifts and not just gift cards, but it’s definitely not going to happen anymore. Just the thought of going to the store makes me feel grumpy. I’m awfully disappointed at myself for not being done with this collection already. This whole month, I was only able to make the dresses below. And! it’s not even 100% completed. I don’t know, but I think I just need a real vacation.

Happy Halloween!

Btw, I have envisioned the pink dress for a long time and finally made it. It’s not exactly what I envisioned because of course it’s sooo hard to find the exact things and colors I want, but this will do. I’d like the fringe belt to be 2 inches longer, the coins to be more closely together, the trim to be a different color, and the skirt to be opaque; but this is the best I can do with limited resources. I think it’s cute :D

Hmong backless peplum top

September 24, 2013

My original idea, before I got home from work, was to make two dresses before I head to bed. I started on the backless dress and decided to make a peplum top instead.  I figured I have more dresses in mind than I have tops so better make tops before this collection comprise of mainly dresses. Besides, I’ve attempted twice to make a peplum top and both failed. The third attempt has to be a charm right? And, it did turn out cute; reminds me of a ballerina dress.

I’ve been meaning to remake the infinity dress, which is supposed to be made yesterday night. I got tired and went to bed instead. This morning, I took a few minutes to drape around the dressform to see how it would look like and I must say, I don’t know; or my draping is just really bad.

I worked on the embroidery top and realized I did not like the high neckline with the style I was aiming for. I haven’t trash it yet, but it’s set aside for now. I don’t know if I will reattempt it soon.

The night before last, I worked on a dress and knew exactly what I wanted to do with the top, but the fabric just wouldn’t want to work with me. I played around with it and felt I needed to just sleep on it. Then voila! The first piece done last night.

I’m not in the mood to make dresses; thought I make shirts instead. I like loose fitting tops and currently this is my favorite top style.

I want to thank the Revived Fashion Show members and participants for allowing me to be part of the show and making it happen. It was a great experience and am looking forward to next year. I had 10 dresses, but only 9 models showed up, which was a little disappointed. I should’ve and could’ve looked or called someone to model it, but it’s too late at this point.
I’m not much of a photo taking person, therefore, I DO NOT have any photos of the models in the dresses. Luckily, my sister Yergie, which was my wonderful wonderful dresser who helped me SOOO much during the show, took the photo above.

I’m announcing that I am anticipating in the Revived Fashion Show II this Dec 30th. Wish me luck because I’m already stressing just thinking about it.
I received my fabrics from fabrics.com yesterday and need to start in it ASAP.
Anyway, Happy Birthday to my sister Yergie! Wishing I can celebrate with her.
