I’m due in 2 months and there are so many projects I want to do! Hopefully I can sew after I give birth? If not, I don’t think I’ll have a collection this year except for random pieces. Once I get back to NC, my resources will be nothing! Just thought I share some of the things I’ve made since my last update.

Hmong Print Mini Skirt

November 8, 2013

I know I know I’m getting side track but the fabric I designed finally came in. I only ordered a yard of it just to see the quality of the fabric and printing. I have to say, I’m not too impress, but it’s expected. First of all, it’s printed AND it’s knit so the ink does not saturate well enough. When the fabric stretches, the original color of the fabric, which is white, still shows. Secondly, the fabric does not stretch as much as I would like it to. It is a cotton knit and I knew before ordering that there’s not much stretch to it like polyester knits, but I had a little hope that it would differ. Anyway, I received it yesterday and took me awhile to figure out what to do with it. Mini skirt it is!

Hmong sweater

October 1, 2013

Well, my vacation starts today after work. I have lots of things to get done like maybe purchase a stylish carryon luggage, finish up and press the dresses I made for my nieces, laundry, start packing… But instead I spent all of last night doing something else. I originally wanted to wait on making this sweater because I don’t have all the things that I want to add to the sweater. I want a different shiloutte for the face, a smaller black and white stripe fabric for the hat, maybe lips, and coins but of course I never want to do the things I need to do so I worked on the sweater. It still turned out cute but not as cute as I want it to be. To be remake…

3 down, more to go

September 23, 2013

Technically it’s 5 down and more to go because I am including the top and maxi skirt currently on sale on my shop as part of this collection.

These are sample garments so of course I ran into some issues. For example the fabric I choose for the jacket lining was a no go. I wanted it to be thick and used cotton, and it was just a super wrong decision. It turned out too stiff, which is okay, but the fabrics stick or cling to each other and create wrinkles. I will use real lining fabric next time to avoid the clinginess.

The green babydoll top was supposed to be a peplum top, but of course I rushed it and didn’t realize the top portion was too short. I still like the outcome though because it’s great for days when you just want to eat forever. I didn’t trash this top because it’s also great as a pregnancy top and I know two special girls that will be very pregnant during the Hmong New Years.

I’m not in the mood to make dresses; thought I make shirts instead. I like loose fitting tops and currently this is my favorite top style.

What a lollapalooza morning! I actually had 10 minutes to spare this morning before heading out to Starbucks and then work. I spent a few minutes of my 10 minutes looking through my jewelries and found the pearl necklace my sister gave me for Christmas. I like pearls, but this necklace is exceptional because it’s real therefore it’s not perfectly round, it’s not white, and it’s made by my sister. I just bought the diamond ring, but it’s not my favorite. My favorite ring is still my jade ring. Every time I go to the mall, I often go to the jewelry section/stores to look for jade rings and necklaces, but there are always such small selections. Somebody told me that there is a restriction on jade imports so I guess that could be the reason why jewelry stores have such limited selections.
I also used my 10 minutes to take a few photos of the things I made but no longer want to keep. At first I was going to trash it like I usually do, but figured people might want it so I’m going to do a few giveaways. If you would like to win the items posted on here (minus the necklace and rings), go to my Facebook page to like and share the photos.
